It was such a pleasure to chat with Rajeev Majumdar, current president of the Washington State Bar Association and the first state bar president of South Asian descent in all of the United States.

We went deep in this conversation on his initial pitfalls starting out as a lawyer, his journey through anxiety and depression and how he was to pick himself back up.

This one is a gem for the ages.

Q: If you were to write a letter to yourself when you first started practicing law, what would you say in that letter?

You aren’t going to believe what is going to happen because you can’t contemplate it.  Because it is outside of the scope of your imagination. There are going to be really awful times.  But in the end, it is going to be fantastic.

You are going to be so amazingly happy 15 years from now with this path that you are starting on. You are not going to know what the twists and turns are.  You are going to have failures and pitfalls, but if you were able to look forward 15 years and feel how I feel, you are going to be very impressed, very satisfied and very fulfilled.
