The Discipline of Gratefulness

In the flurry of March activity, it’s easy to feel the sluggish weight of stress from deadlines and exams. This can quickly lead to anxiety and depression. But spring is just around the corner. So whenever I feel overwhelmed, I turn off all of the distractions. All of the external influences and I begin to:

Pause. Breathe. And think.

A mindset that can withstand the seasons is the discipline of gratefulness. To get to tomorrow, we must get through today. Tomorrow holds our hopes and visions for the future. But today is the path we must take to get there. And there will never be another day like today.

A vision need not be grandiose, but it can start with a simple goal. Incremental steps, that can be made today, is what will keep you on track with that goal. Patience is necessary for resilience.

So seize the day, one small step at a time.
