Beyond the A: Interview + OCI Workshop (Jan 30)

  • Zoom (Online) Vancouver Canada (map)

A workshop to provide law students with the skills and strategies to thrive during interviews and OCIs.

About this Event

You’ve spent countless hours refining your resume, scheduling “Zoom coffees” with lawyers, and attending online events; all in hopes of securing a summer position with your law firm of choice.

As you enter into the next stage of the recruitment process, you’re probably experiencing feelings of excitement, nervousness, and ultimately anxiety. The purpose of this workshop is to provide students with the skills and strategies to thrive beyond anxiety surrounding the interview and OCI process.

This workshop will consist of an in-depth seminar on interview / networking skills with an optional mock interview with personalized feedback to prepare you for success during the recruitment period and beyond.

Presenters:

Steven Ngo works as senior counsel with Visier Inc. (Deloitte Technology Fast 50™ company), was previously on the student recruitment committee for Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and worked at Linklaters LLP in Asia. He is the founder of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (Western) and currently sits on the board of directors for the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (BC).

During his experience mentoring students, he is well aware of the challenges faced by his mentees, including the anxiety surrounding law firm recruitment and wants to use Beyond the A as a platform to make an impact on a grander scale.
